On a budget so I passed on all the BlueTooth stuff and bought the 260W with the wide screen. All I needed was something to get me where I need to go and this baby does just that. I got it from Amazon.com, more merchants and a better price.

This is a great unit for the money. Only real low is the fact that the 2008 version of maps are missing roads that should be there i.e. they have been open for more than 18 months but don't exist on the map.

Price, functionality, performance, ease of interface use. No flip up antennae to deal with. Lots of cool things and display modes to play with. Picture viewer with an SD card for what it's worth. Long battery life at ~5 hours which is displayed in a meter. Finds things very fast and re-routes very fast. No excuses for getting lost anymore!

I have used it for 3 months now and I agree with the other reviewers. The battery life is pretty bad. Even when the battery meter tells you that it's 2/3 full, it tends to run out in 30 mins or so. Takes about a minute to find the satellites, longer in cloudy weather. Street names and turn by turn directions are OK and the maps are up to date for the greater New York metro area (including NJ).

This is a great GPS device. It announces upcoming turns and street names well in advance and just before you approach your turn. Very easy to use. Locks onto satilites really quick (never more than 30 seconds, usually less) It seems to pick the best routes to my destinations so far! In my opinion this is the best GPS for those that are NOT looking for MP3 playpack, traffic reports, or bluetooth. That keeps the price down. It does announce turns, street names and highway numbers and exits.

Warning! This is a basic GPS. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but this is EXACTLY what I wanted. I have had it for about a week and it has performed flawlessly. On a resent trip to the mall I did not follow the route but took some short cuts I know. It had no problem recalculating the route to my destination. I am very pleased with the size and brightness of the screen. I would definitely put Garmin nuvi260W on your list to consider if you want a no frills GPS that does what a GPS is supposed to do.

Battery life sucks! Other than that it's ok. I got this from my wife as a gift and she did not want to spend too much money. I am a pretty basic guy and i don't need all the bluetooth stuff anyway. I just need to get where I am going and this unit gets me there on time.

The Garmin nüvi 260W GPS is excellent. We purchased it and took the first trip to Washington DC and found it to be outstanding. We would have been totally lost without it. Navigating through DC with it was a breeze. We have used it numerous times since and think it is one of the best investments we have made. It works great with an address so put in as much data as possible before you leave. It can be a little picky identifing locations

We bought the unit about a month ago, and gave it a real test as we navigated to Orange Beach, AL from Ft. Smith, AR (area). It performed very well, as long as we chose cities along the route we wanted to take. There were - as with all GPS units - some mistakes along the way. We needed gas in Memphis, and took the first Exxon station listed - it brought us to an oil refinery! We did have a laugh! It did find us a station quickly in the area, and generally found the shortest routes on our trip and in the towns where we shopped, etc. I liked the ease of just tapping on the store or eatery and it took us to the door. One time did it really flub up - it tried to take us across a bridge that was not there. But nevertheless, the unit did quiet well. We have used the handheld garmin units for a few years and have had good service and company support. The unit attaches firmly to the windshield and does not move at all when traveling. Overall, an excellent unit that I would buy again and again!
